Gererd de Nazelle of Polygenta speaks at TAG 2011 conference in Mumbai
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FICCI) organised “TAG 2011 (Textile, Apparels and Garment) Conference” on October 13th, 2011 at the Hotel Intercontinental The Lalit, Mumbai. The objective of TAG 2011 was to focus on the current innovations throughout the textile and apparel industry and the growing demand and challenges of sustainability within the Indian textile and apparel Industry.
Gerard de Nazelle of Polygenta presented on the topic
“Polygenta: We create a “material” and sustainable difference”. The
presentation focussed on profitability and sustainability and the ways in which they complement each other. It focused on the strong financial
incentives of Polygenta’s technology, products (conversion of
post-consumer PET bottles into premium quality polyester texturised
yarns) and business model. Gerard also described the broader tangible
impact of Polygenta’s innovations, which contribute to a more inclusive,
better connected and greener society.
The conference
mainly tried to address the issues pertaining to sustainability in the
Indian Textiles and Apparel Industry and its three pillars:
Environmental, Social and Economic. The view was to bring together the
key stakeholders of the industry to share their views and experiences on
this important subject and provide insights to take it forward.
Gerard was also invited to sit on the panel of “Outcome and way forward”, in which the outcome of the
conference and recommendations and suggestions to the Government were
given.
